A 4-stroke power band is gradually distributed through the whole RPM range and picks power in a constant mode. Timing on a two stroke can be pretty critical and very different than a 4-st. My only experience was on a 4 cycl 500 and it wanted advanced timing off the pipe, then less advance as you get on the pipe. Even 1-2 deg made a difference. The only problem is it has a little trouble getting into the power band. If you rip the throttle the rpms slowly rise, then the power band kicks in.
